The Essential Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two
July 18th, 2022 by Princess

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and good luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic uses different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is frequently utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
